As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we are here to serve you!
Emergency Medical Services isn't about the money...and never has been. We use billing revenue to offset the costs of providing the service so that your tax dollars don't have to fund this program.
As a result, we operate on a bare bones budget which does not leave much room for capital expenses or unexpected costs.
The past few years have been difficult to say the least. Between the pandemic and associate costs, record inflation, and dwelling numbers of EMTs throughout the nation, our costs to operate have increased dramatically.
This year, we look for your continued support to ensure that when you call for help, you get a quick response by our professional members!
HOW YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED
IMPROVING CARE
In 2023, the cost to send a volunteer through EMT School is approximately $2,500. This is in addition to the numerous other expenses associated with onboarding new members including uniforms, background checks, fit-for-duty physicals, and more.
This year, we have been lucky enough to send 6 VOLUNTEERS through EMT school with the help of Southampton Township. We hope to be able to send at least 5 volunteers in 2024, with your help!
Your funds will help cover the additional cost of personnel, equipment, wear and tear on the fleet, and other added expenses.
In 2022, we increased our equipment inventory to better care for our patients. This included the addition of Pelvic Binders, Hemostatic Dressings, and more.
In addition, we continue to stock optional but lifesaving medications such as Epi-Pens that cost hundreds of dollars per dose.
Your donation will continue to ensure these lifesaving medications and valuable pieces of equipment remain on our trucks.
IMPROVING SAFETY
Safety of our patients and crew members is a top priority for us.
In 2023, our 17 year old ambulance with over 180,000 miles was retired due to numerous mechanical issues. The cost to "remount" an ambulance is around $200,000 and can take up to a year for the process to be completed.
We are also looking to replace the 20 year old Ford Excursion (1785), utilized as the Supervisor/First Responder vehicle in the near future. 1785 has been experiencing non-stop mechanical issues over the last few years.
We hope to outfit one of our other ambulances (1782) with a Stryker Autoload system and power stretcher, which allows heavier patients to be transported while reducing back strain of our providers.
Your donation will go to upgrade other vehicles with enhanced safety features that will benefit our patients and crew members.
Other items for upgrade include traffic safety vests, firefighter rehabilitation equipment, and more.
IMPROVING THE EMS SYSTEM
In 2022, as part of this commitment to the public, we rolled out our Public Education Program (PEP) which offers a variety of FREE classes to Southampton residents and employees.

These programs proved to be very popular with over 150 lay persons attended classes throughout the year.
We believe that an educated and prepared public is essential to improving the EMS system.

Stryker autoload

Equipment:
Stretcher and Load System
Purpose:
The power stretcher is a battery operated hydraulic cot that is a vast improvement over the tradition manual stretchers due to the increased weight capability (up to 800 lbs).
The autoload system allows the stretcher to be loaded into the ambulance with the press of a button, saving our crew's backs! This reduces liability and increase safety for the patient and crew members.

Equipment:
Automated CPR Compression Device
Purpose:
If you have ever taken a CPR class before, you know how straining chest compressions can be. Early, effective and uninterrupted compressions are key to patient survival.
It is typical that we will spend up to 20 minutes on scene doing chest compressions and then potential in the moving ambulance...You can imagine the risk and decrease in performance. This device does chest compressions for us, for as long as we need, without complaint thus improving patient outcomes.

Stryker xps siderails
Equipment:
Expandable Patient Surface Siderails for Stryker Stretchers
Purpose:
The Stryker stretchers come standard with side rails that raise and lower straight up and down. This is fine is most situations. However to better accompany the power stretcher's higher weight capability of 800 lbs, we also need to account for width. These side rails allow us to transport patients that may exceed the approximately 23 inch width set by the standard side rails. The width of the XPS siderails increases to approximately 36 inches and can be set to an angle to further increase width.

motorola pagers and radios
Equipment:
Pagers and Radios
Purpose:
Believe it or not, EMTs and Firefighters are notified of emergency calls using pagers. It is the most reliable system with no delays in notification.
Our crew members each carry a pager on them.
Each member also carries a portable radio that can communication with our dispatch center and each ambulance is equipped with two radios (as required). These devices are crucial for communications and crew safety. With an additional ambulance and staffing additional units, we need more pagers and radios.
