Ambulance Tour

With the photos below, you can open up cabinets and see what's inside!

Click the play button to hear the airhorn!

This comes in handy on the highways or when behind truckers, who often have noise insulated cabs making it hard for them to hear the sirens.

Movement Compartment

Located on the opposite side of the truck (passenger side) is the movement compartment.

We are professional people movers! No matter the injury or location, we have ways to move you to the ambulance.

This includes the famous backboards, but also "Reeve's" stretcher, Scoop stretchers, stairchairs, and megamovers.

All serve special purposes and have a different uses, but rest assured, we have the equipment.

Crew Cab

The crew cab contains seating for our two EMTs.

The cab also contains our module that controls all the emergency lights, lighting, HVAC, and more. In additional to the lights, we have 2 sirens and an airhorn.

There is also a dispatch radio, a response radio, and numerous other items.

Tools Compartment

Screwdrivers, jumper cables, wrenches, and more... If you need a tool, it's in this compartment.

People get stuck in all sorts of places including chairs, walkers, showers, etc. The tools we carry help us disassemble objects instead of breaking them.

Fracture Compartment

This compartment contains everything we need to handle breaks and strains.

Immobilization of fractured bones is an important part of pre-hospital care and we carry a variety of different types of splits to use depending on the injury.

This includes cervical collars for neck/spinal injuries, pelvic binders for hip fractures, and multiple splits for extremities.

In addition, this interior/exterior accessible compartment houses spare linens and spare oxygen.

Click the play button to cycle through the siren!

When you hear sirens or see emergency lights, PULL TO THE RIGHT AND STOP!

Pulling over but continuing to pace emergency vehicles, does not help.

Hover over a magnify glass to see inside a compartment or hover over an info button to learn about the item under it.

Diagnostic, Medication, Bleeding Control

This compartment sits above the "bench seat" and provides easy access to diagnostic equipment, medications, bandages/dressings, and other commonly used items such as face masks and emesis bags.

To the left of this compartment are gloves.

Bleeding Control Compartment

This compartment contains everything we need to "Stop-the-Bleed." This includes band-aids, dressings, bandages, tourniquets, and more...

This compartment is almost identical to the compartment above the bench seat on the opposite side of the truck to allow easy access to these commonly used items.

The Control Center

The countertop holds our on-board suction.

Above the countertop is the "module" which allows the crew to control lighting, power to outlets, set timers, and control the oxygen system.

Additionally, crews have access to our dispatch radio and response radio.

Crew Compartment Access

This door leads to a passthrough between the crew compartment and the patient compartment.

This is usually left open, but can easily be closed off when needed, such as with COVID Positive patients to limit exposure.

The Cardiac Arrest Compartment

This is where we house our Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Portable Suction for Cardiac Arrests.

This compartment is accessible from both the interior and exterior of the ambulance.

Environmental Compartment

This compartment contains items such as hot and cold packs, survivals blankets, sterile water, and burn sheets.

If it's hot or cold or the patient is hot or cold, then we know where to look.

Pediatric Compartment

This compartment contains everything pediatric related.

The nearby "Captain's Chair" or Airway seat converts into a child safety seat, but we also carry a pedi-mate device which is the maroon device seen in the photo. This attaches to the stretcher to make a flexible car seat.

The Captain's Chair or Airway Seat

This seat is where crew members sit when they are attending to the patient's airway.

It conveniently doubles as a fold down child safety seat.

Cleaning Supplies

Wipes, hand sanitizer, spare batteries, trash / biohazard bags, and more.

Jump Bag and PPE

This compartment, like the one above, is accessible from the interior and exterior of the ambulance.

It houses our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks and our jump bag, which contains everything we need in the first 10-15 minutes on scene.
